On May 22nd, 2018, the Lung Health Institute joined other health care representatives in the COPD community to promote the COPD National Action Plan. We are proud to be a part of this national effort to raise COPD awareness and strive for better treatments to improve the lives of those affected by this disease.
The COPD National Action Plan provides the framework for guiding lung treatment facilities nationwide in a combined effort to make significant headway in treating the disease. It covers the needs of patients and the general public, health care practice guidelines, research opportunities and new policies for lung health providers to observe.
The National Action Plan can be condensed into five points that represent the different aspects of COPD that need to be addressed to form a more comprehensive national treatment effort.
The five points of the COPD National Action Plan are:
Many of these points echo the sentiments expressed by smaller state COPD committees and summits. It takes a lot of effort to draft up these plans and put them into action. The COPD National Action Plan will have more framework, resource, and organizations to put these plans into action on a national level and bring better COPD treatments to the American public.
